Dining at Crieff Hydro Hotel – Brasserie Style

Whenever you are trying to feed the family, finding the right restaurant atmosphere is always the first hurdle. At Crieff Hydro we offer such a great selection of dining options, that we have perfect venues for both family dining and intimate meals with friends or loved ones.

The Brasserie is the ideal venue for eating together as a family. Many of our guests gather here for their breakfast, lunch or dinner. Under 12 guests tend to eat here quite a lot, as Children’s High Tea is served daily – fuelling them for all of the fun activities involved in Big Country.

The informal atmosphere in The Brasserie makes everyone feel comfortable and it is not just for families; our stylish venue is a great place to enjoy breakfast with friends or to have a blether (with or without a tasty bite).

The Brasserie at Crieff Hydro

The Brasserie at Crieff Hydro – It’s a quality Scottish restaurant that caters for everyone!

We would always recommend reserving your table for evening dining and the great thing is that non-residents can enjoy The Brasserie experience as well!

Our menus have many dishes of Mediterranean and Scottish origin (with a few surprises) – for a substantial meal or a light bite. The Brasserie is a great destination for vegetarians. For lunch, our tapas share option or one of our scrumptious baked potatoes are a really tasty way of enjoying a lighter meal.

Our dinner menu will always have some daily specials to tempt your pallet. We try to offer a wide variety in the evening – everyone can find their favourite ingredients and you can always try different things over a long break at Crieff Hydro. The Brasserie has a fine array of delicious fish and grill options and our food is always cooked exactly how you like it.

For the grown up diners, The Brasserie experience always means choosing from a delicious range of cocktails, international wines (all available by the glass if you would prefer) and speciality coffees and teas.

The Brasserie is an elegant restaurant, beautifully lit and the large mirrors along one wall mean are great for watching the many comings and goings.

Lovely Words from a recent Guest!

We love to hear all the wonderful words that our guests have to say about us, it makes all the hard work we put in at the Hydro all worth it!!

This week our CEO Stephen Leckie received these kind words from a guest, Michael Laing- we just had to share!

Winter Garden Restaurant at Crieff Hydro

We love to hear all your feedback – make sure you leave a comment on Tripadvisor, Facebook or Twitter – we read them all!

Dear Crieff Hydro,
We have had a weekend at Crieff that will live on in our memories forever.

Firstly, my compliments to you on the up-grading of the hotel. There is a great sense of arrival with the fabulous Scottish dry-stane dyke work and chic reception and comfortably chic decor throughout. Thank-you and Fiona for your personal welcome and kind gift and up-grade to Tattinger champagne which was very much appreciated by all. I’m sorry I didn’t get the chance to see you on Monday morning but, by the time we got the respective families up and away we were late for lunch at Eriska.

Our grand-children had such a wonderful time swimming, horse riding and at the children’s Club.

I don’t think there is anywhere like Crieff Hydro in the UK where children can have so much fun, parents can feel happy and relaxed while ‘young’ grand-parents can enjoy the food, relaxation and stress-free time watching their entire family enjoying themselves. There are so many aspects  and activities in the hotel for lovely walks in the grounds, a casual meal at the Hub to a more peaceful good wine and dining experience in the Meikle restaurant. Your hotel just works so well for all age groups and especially families.

Please pass on our admiration and thanks to your entire team who without exception were only to eager to please, friendly and succeeded in delivering our dreams for the weekend.

We look all forward to our next visit to your unique establishment.

All the very best,
Michael (Laing)

We love to hear all your thoughts about your trips to the Hydro – tweet us, leave us a message on facebook or Tripadvisor - we make sure to read them all!

Golfers Have Been Gathering Here for Years

We believe a contented smile breaks out on any golfer, when they are offered the chance to play golf at Crieff Hydro.

Crieff Golf Club and Crieff Hydro have been happily hosting golfers for as long as they have been willing to come. 1856 was a very important year for the town, as it saw the opening of two exciting new services. Crieff Railway Station and the Victorian Spa were completed in this year and Crieff Hydro is very proud to still operate the spa today.

Thirty-five years after the grand openings, a new sport sprung into the lives of the town folk. Old Tom Morris crafted a nine-hole golf course, converting the land of East Ledbowie Park. These days, the guests of Crieff Hydro have a fine selection of golf courses to play on:

The Culcrieff Golf Club is part of our estate and the 18 hole course is a fair challenge for the seasoned golfer or a total novice. Guests really appreciate having the club so close. The Par 3 course is great for practising your short game and there is a driving range as well – fantastic facilities.

When you stay with us just now, you could take advantage of our autumn / winter golf breaks. For £20 per person, you get 50 balls on the driving range, followed by 18 holes and a two course soup/sandwich lunch.

Perhaps you have read this and want to come and play golf in Perthshire next spring instead? We would be happy to host your golf break anytime and believe the following would help your planning:

Come and gather for a game, book now!

Health Benefits of our Victorian Spa and Sauna

Visiting the Victorian Spa at Crieff Hydro is the perfect way to relax and recharge your weary batteries, whilst indulging in a spot of pampering.

Spas have long been prized for their health benefits. The Victorians started using them as bathing became more fashionable (and body odour less so). Back in 1868 when Crieff Hydro opened as one of the first hydropathic health spa hotels in Scotland, bathing in ice-cold water was the done thing, thought to boost circulation and soothe aching muscles.

These days, the Crieff Hydro pool is comfortably warm and our guests prefer building up a sweat in our sauna to shivering in a bath of icy water. We don’t blame them! However, a spot of time spent in the sauna can still do wonders for your health:

Top four health benefits of using a sauna

1) Getting rid of toxins

Pollution, alcohol, smoking and a bad diet can clog your body up with toxins. Toxins can cause a huge range of problems, from spots and colds to headaches and even mild infections.

Saunas raise your body temperature, making you sweat and boosting your lymphatic system which helps expel those nasty toxins from your body. You’re left feeling lighter and totally energised.

2) Natural healing

Exposure to the high heat of a sauna creates an artificial fever state in the human body. This may sound scary, but fever is actually part of the body’s natural healing process and pumps your body full of disease-fighting white blood cells and antibodies.

3) They make you happy

When your body starts to get very hot, it reacts by releasing endorphins. These are nature’s painkillers which give you a happy buzz.

4) You’ll sleep like a baby

If you have trouble sleeping, it may be because your body temperature isn’t dropping enough at bedtime. Raising your body temperature in the early evening by exercising or using a sauna encourages it to fall later at night, lulling you into a perfectly sleepy state.

If this isn’t enough to tempt you along to our Victorian Spa, we’ve got a treatment room where you can pamper yourself even more with facials, massages, detox plans and even a fish pedicure. Go on, you deserve it.

We currently have on offer a 2-4-1 break and a 3-4-2 break – so if you are in need of some relaxation and fancy trying out our Victorian Spa and Sauna – check out our website, like us on Facebook  or follow us on Twitter for more information and special offers.
